You will meet with more success if you appeal in person rather than over the phone. They have a hard time saying no in person, and truly are respectful of golf purists. They will no doubt see yours as a noble undertaking. Reply expressing interest and I will send you my contact details. The problem is that the person on the other end of the phone doesn't speak english.
This may come as a surprise to you (and most Americans) but the majority of people in non-english speaking countries do not speak english and to assume that any institution in one of these countries will train their staff to speak english for your benefit is arrogant and wrong.
Your opening statement at Hirono: "Can I book a tee time". Can you imagine the response if someone rang up Augusta (or for that matter any golf course in the english speaking world) and simply asked in another language to book a tee time?
Why should you think that the response you received at Hirono (ie they hung up) would be any different to that at Augusta?
American arrogance perhaps?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20412896.post-65002749591016015492008-02-28T21:35:00.000-08:002008-02-28T21:35:00.000-08:00Great stuff.
